The Pink Oak Cancer Trust (Pink Oak), Nigeria’s 1st Cancer Treatment Fund, is an innovative approach to mobilize funds for cancer diagnosis and treatment in Nigeria. It is a harmonized and coordinated approach to create a pool of funds from corporations, private organizations, government and individuals.
In Nigeria, there is limited access to cancer treatment due to high cost of care and little or no health insurance coverage. More than 90% of cancer patients pay out of pocket, with support from family, friends, cultural and religious groups. Pink Oak is structured to provide financial support, and increase patients’ access to best possible quality of treatment in Nigeria.
Pink Oak is designed to be Credible, Structured and Sustainable by bringing together key stakeholders in cancer across public and private sectors, choosing partners with integrity to form the governing structure and framework that guides the organisation with defined processes. It is designed as a solution to address treatment funding and provide a platform for Government to contribute to funding cancer care.
